Great Weapon Light and for Every Day Carry! SureFire quality with a cheaper price tag!,
SureFire is a big name among survivalist, LEO and military. I never intend to own one until I purchased my first AR15, which I meant to add a weapon light to. As a weapon light, it has to be able to stand up to the abuse and recoil, thus I decide to go with SureFire.
In the past, SureFire generally runs around $100 if not more, even their entry level flashlight costs some pretty pennies. Until I discovered the pleasant surprise – G2X series. It has the price tag of theirs usual entry level, at the same time maintain the 200 lumen of brightness and SureFire Quality. Some argue it is not as good as their previous models, which I cannot tell: I have shot 500 rounds 5.56 NATO through my AR15 with my SureFire attached to the rail, and it’s still functions great. I dropped the flashlight numerous times, even submerged it in the toilet (don’t ask why) by accident, but it still function fine.
The size can be a bit bulky in pants’ pocket; a holster will be more comfortable (Photo comparison in the gallery). I carry in my work vest pocket, so it does not bother me.
Brightness is superb. I would say it’s the brightest light I have seen in its price range (Comparison with Dorcy 3xAA 200 Lumen in Gallery). The light is direct, while leave enough spill for exploration purpose.
The battery uses CR123, which for me is a down side due to the cost and how rare they are comparing to AA. They can be found online a whole lot cheaper than in store ($1.8 vs $5).
The light is mostly metal around the light compartment. The body and the tail cap are covered with rubber. (Photos in gallery) I personally like the plastic feel better than the metal. Just feel like it has more traction. You WILL NOT be able to take the light compartment apart for modifications like G2, unless you really know what you are doing.
Overall, it is a great little light with a relatively inexpensive price tag for a SureFire. I would recommend anyone to get it just for the SureFire name, also the brightness.

excellent light !,
Small, light weight, seems very durable. I will use it as a tactical light with a handgun, so I like the touch button for getting a quick ‘flash sight picture’ without the light staying on. You can adjust the amount of pressure for this by turning the on-off cap. The light output is terrific! Even without a strobe, hitting someone in the eyes with this beam will momentarily blind them from probably up to 20 ft away. I cannot measure the actual lumens, but I believe 200 is accurate. No fancy settings or colors or power levels, but a burst of blinding light when you need it and a powerful flashlight for normal use.
